Part 2 - Watchers
Now let us move on to the next section about The Watchers also known as the Grigori, Greek egregoroi.
They are a group of fallen angels in Biblical apocrypha who mated with human females, giving rise to a race of hybrids known as the Nephilim (the Nephilim are also mentioned in Genesis 6:4, but that verse notably lacks mention of them being human-angel hybrids. The Watchers appear in Biblical apocrypha, in the first and second books of Enoch and Jubilees. The word "Grigori" derives from the Slavonic Second Book of Enoch.
After Lucifer and the rebellious follower angels were banished from the third heaven they wanted revenge for their banishment. They decided that one of the most vengeful acts they could do was to corrupt or contaminate his other created beings, humans. Some of the top fallen angels came to earth and descended upon Mount Hermon. These angels were called the watchers, probably because they presented themselves to us as our guardians. Enoch 6: "And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it."
This was no random location, but a very precise spot on the planet. The highest slope of summit is on the border between Syria and Lebanon, while the southern slopes of Mount Hermon are in Israel. This part of the mountain was annexed by Israel in 1981. Mount Hermon has been figured as the site of the Transfiguration, where Jesus took three of his disciples up on a high mountain for prayer. Before their eyes, Jesus was transfigured. He became radiantly white and conversed with Moses and Elijah, who had appeared beside him.
Mount Hermon lies precisely at 33.33° north 33.33° east, 2,012 miles from the equator and 2,012 miles from the prime meridian. The Transfiguration likely occurred there because in Spiritual Numerology, '33' symbolizes the highest spiritual conscious attainable by the human being." The number of nautical miles in 33.33 degrees of the earth is 2012. This corresponds to the year and date that the ancient Mayans calendar will end, December 21st, 2012. This is also the year their serpent god and founder of civilization, Quetzalcoatle, is supposed to return from heaven. Remember that the being that tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden is also called 'The Serpent', is this the same being, that may return to the Earth in 2012. Quetzalcoatle does resemble a description of some angels.
If you go directly opposite Mount Hermon, on the other side of the Earth, you will find yourself at the Roswell UFO crash site location. This very strange bit of info may show that the site of the Roswell UFO incident was a chosen spot, and not just some random flying saucer crash site. Could it be, that these ancient fallen angels were telling us that the same event that occurred in 1947 in Roswell New Mexico, will again occur, maybe on a massive scale on Dec 21, 2012? Will, Dec 21, 2012 be the unveiling of a worldwide UFO event, and the unfolding of the 'Great Deception', as Jesus warned about in the Holy Bible. A fake return of a rapture and return of Jesus.
Contaminating the Human Race
In their true angelic form it would be difficult for them to carry out their idea, they would not and could not have sexual intercourse. They had the ability though to assume human form and came upon Mount Hermon. As the Holy Bible states in numerous passages that angels, can look and act exactly like humans, they can sleep, eat, drink and thus they can have sex this human form. It is likely that another reason the fallen angels wanted to contaminate humans was to try to prevent the Messiah from coming from the lineage of Adam to be redeemer of the human race. If no man could be found to redeem man, Satan and the angels would retain administrative control over the fallen earth indefinitely.
The watchers were apparently angels dispatched to Earth to watch over the humans. They sound very much like a group of cherubim. Soon they began to lust for human women, and at the prodding of their leader Samyaza, they defected to illicitly instruct and procreate with humanity. The offspring of these unions were the Nephilim, savage giants who pillage the earth and endangered humanity. Samyaza and associates further taught their human charges arts and technologies such as weaponry, cosmetics, mirrors, sorcery, and other technologies that would have been eventually discovered by humans on their own. Similar to the Greek myth of Prometheus revealing fire-making to humans without Zeus's permission. It is also possible that ancient legends among many cultures about cannibalistic giants and pervasive implementation of magical powers arise from the same ancient myth. Eventually God creates the Flood partly to rid the earth of the Nephilim. While Genesis 6:4 says that the Nephilim remained "on the earth" even after the Flood, Jude 1: 6 says that the Watchers are bound "in the valleys of the Earth" until Judgment Day. They were imprisoned in the mountains and deserts which seems to say they were buried underground or in burial mounds.
Other Apocryphal books say that even now they are held and tortured in the terrible Fifth Heaven, set aside for just this purpose. I Enoch XIII describes the Watchers/Grigori as stricken mute with guilt and terror after Enoch's reproof, and indeed in II Enoch the Grigori imprisoned in the Fifth Heaven are voiceless giants.
The watchers story in Enoch derives from the sixth chapter of Genesis:
"When men began to multiply on earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took for their wives as many of them as they chose. Then the Lord said: "My spirit shall not remain in man forever, since he is but flesh. His days shall comprise one hundred and twenty years."
Here, the "sons of God" are given no specific name or function; they most likely represent fallen angels. The Book of Enoch regards these as the same angels who are referred to as the Benei Ha-Elohim (Sons of God) in the Book of Genesis. According to this belief, their sins filled the Earth.
In the Book of Daniel an Aramaic term used to denote angels is "watchers". The term "watcher" probably derives from the verb "to be awake" or "to be vigilant," so the implication of calling angels "watchers" is that they are constantly on watch for God. Angels in Jewish folklore are often described them as looking like large human beings that never sleep. While there are good and bad "watchers", most stories revolve around evil ones that fell from grace. In the Old Testament (Daniel 4:13-17) there is reference made to the Irin, or "watchers", a high order of angels in Hebrew lore.
The 200
According to the Book of Enoch, the Watchers numbered a total of 200 but only their leaders are named. These are the leaders of 200 angels in 1 Enoch that become fallen Angels due to their taking wives, mating with human women, and teaching forbidden knowledge. The section in the book of Enoch mentions 20 leaders and reads:
“7. And these are the names of their leaders: Semiazaz, their leader, Arakiba, Rameel, Kokabiel, Tamiel, Ramîel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqîjal, Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqîel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. 8. These are their chiefs of tens."
In the Sibylline Oracles, Araqiel is referred to as one of the 5 angels who lead the souls of men to judgement, the other 4 being Ramiel, Uriel, Samiel, and Azazel.
Kokabiel was a high-ranking, holy angel but, in general apocryphal lore and also in Enoch I, he is a fallen Watcher, resident of nether realms, and commands 365,000 surrogate spirits to do his bidding.
Shamsiel, once a guardian of Eden, served as one of the 2 chief aides to the archangel Uriel when Uriel bore his standard into battle, and is the head of 365 legions of angels and also crowns prayers, accompanying them to the 5th heaven.
Each of them taught us different knowledge which collectively included the signs of the earth, the resolving of enchantments, to make knives, swords, shields, and how to devise ornaments and the art of cosmetics, astrology, the signs of the clouds (meteorology), astrology, the art of writing with ink and paper", the bitter and the sweet (medication) and the secrets of wisdom", the courses of the moon, the signs of the sun.
The book of Jasher says, "After the fallen angels went into the daughters of men, [then] the sons of men were taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order to provoke the Lord" (4:18)
The Nephilim
As a result of intercourse with the daughters of man, the women the Watchers married bore them children called the Nephilim. Nephilim means "violent" or "causing to fall". They were the violent tyrants of those days, those who fell upon others. They were the mighty men (heroes) of old, the men of renown. (Genesis 6:1-4) Their descendants, called Nephilim (translated "giants"), were monsters of iniquity. Nephilim may also be derived from a root signifying "wonder," and hence "monsters" or "prodigies." In Num. 13:33 this name is given to a Canaanite tribe, a race of large stature, "the sons of Anak." The Revised Version, in these passages, simply transliterates the original, and reads "Nephilim." And being superhuman in size and in their wicked character had to be destroyed. Undoubtedly they had some of their angelic parents size and abilities and were taught improper things by them.
The Nephilim were huge. It is possible because the angel Nuriel was described as 300 Parasangs tall. A Parasang is an old Persian measure of distance comparable with the league (around 3 miles). It was equal to the distance you could walk in an hour, or 30 Greek Stadia, 5550 meters. Roughly 3.449 miles. Nuriel was therefore over 1050 miles tall!
The book of Enoch says some of these beings had a height of 'three thousand ells'. A former unit of measure that was also used in ancient times, the measure originally being from the elbow to the fingertips. The exact distance and bearing, depending on who's arm was used and exactly what was measured. If it was the length of the arm shoulder to fingertips or wrist, or elbow to fingertips or wrist. In some languages it was part of the leg above the thigh. It is also a English linear measurement equal to 45 inches. Some countries it was 27 inches and others 32 inches.
The cubit, another ancient measure of length, was also approximately equal to the length of a forearm. It was typically about 18 inches or 44 cm, though there was a long cubit of about 21 inches or 52 cm. The cubit is the usual measurement that is used in biblical texts. When the book of Enoch uses ell it is likely referring to the forearm just like cubit, or 18 inches.
If one ell equals 1 cubit of 18 inches then 3000 ells equals 4500 feet or 0.85 miles tall, nearly 1 mile tall. 1 mile is exactly 1609.344 meters or 5280 feet. Although this may be an exaggeration used to demonstrate that they were bigger than usual.
The book of Enoch tells us they were very large and had six toes or fingers, as well as multiple rows of teeth. They were violent, very strong and had evil demeanors but were also very intelligent and cunning. They were insatiable and began to eat humans. They even ate each other and drank blood. Not only were they hybrids of mixed human and angelic DNA, they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish. In other words having relations and creating strange beings. The biblical Og was close to 15 feet tall, Goliath was over 10 feet tall, and stories dating from the 19th century, tell of men finding bones of giant people in tombs that were as much as 34 feet tall.
It is suggested that the Giants mentioned in Genesis were the same Giants or Titans of Greek Mythology as well as Nordic and many other mythologies. There is some circumstantial evidence to suggest Giants were indeed real. It is said that archaeology has discovered some quite large humanoid skeletons. Although all of them have been lost or at least.cannot be viewed publicly anywhere. There are rumors that they have been hidden away deep within the private recesses of the Smithsonian, Louvre, and the Vatican. There are some museums where you can still view their gigantic tools and weapons. Also in the middle east you can visit some extremely large burial sites. Some skeletons have also been discovered with strange features and skulls with horns, cranial ridges, and large fangs.
It is interesting that these giants were also called the mighty men (heroes) of old, the men of renown. This statement does resemble rulers in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia who often proclaimed themselves as "sons of God" to enhance their power and prestige. So, another view is that the "sons of God" were power-hungry rulers and despots, who, in their hunger for power and influence, took many wives in polygamy. They, and their offspring, through tyranny, became "mighty men." (Nimrod was described as a "mighty one" in Genesis 10:8.)
Some of the characteristics and practices of the Nephilim may still be part of humanity. Practices of bloodlust, human sacrifice, cannibalism, vampirism, magic/k, genetic manipulation, polygamy, bestiality, and other vile sexual practices(incest, rape, sodomy...). Characteristics of extra strength and intelligence, gigantism, hybridiztion, mutation, chimerism, twins, defects, polydactyly, androgyny and hermaphroditism.
Besides creating an untold number of monsters and creatures of mythology, the Giants had several groups of descendents called respectively the Rephaim, Anakim, Emim, Zamzummin, Avim which shared many of their attributes. Although they seemed to be not quite as gigantic in size as in the earlier times. These descendents are all races said to exist well after the biblical flood. According to the Apocrypha of Barvch there were 4,090,000 giants in existence on the earth before the Flood.
The Apocrypha claim the disembodied Nephilim are the origin of demons, and accuse them of many crimes. Jubilees places the blame for the Flood squarely upon the fornication of the Watchers and the iniquity and bloodshed of the Nephilim. "And now the giants who were born from souls and flesh will be called evil spirits upon the earth," charges I Enoch XV-XVI, "From the day of...the slaughter and destruction of the giant Nephilim, the mighty ones of the earth, the great famous ones, the spirits that have gone out from their souls as from the flesh will destroy without judgment." Even the mortal women who are their mothers are cursed to become sirens and demonesses. In Jubilees X:1-6, Noah's sons beg him to protect their children from "unclean demons" who are "leading astray, blinding and killing" them; Noah, petitioning God to "let not wicked spirits rule over [my grandchildren] and destroy them", adds, "Thou knowest what thy Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, did in my day..." making it clear that the demonic spirits and the Nephilim are considered one and the same. (One wonders if Kainam was one of these grandchildren being "led astray" by a "demonic" Nephilim familiar.
The idea that the spirits of dead giants inhabit the underworld is supported here:
- They're segregated from the heroes, the old-time giants who entered the grave in full battle dress, their swords placed under their heads and their shields covering their bones, those heroes who spread terror through the land of the living. The Message Version, Ezekiel 32:27
- "And he did not know that giants are there, and that her guests are in the depths of hell" (Douay-Rheims Version, Proverbs 9:18)
- "A man that shall wander out of the way of doctrine, shall abide in the company of the giants" (Douay-Rheims Version, Proverbs 21:16)
- "Hell below was in an uproar to meet thee at thy coming, it stirred up the giants for thee" (Douay-Rheims Version, Isaiah 14:9)
- "Let not the dead live, let not the giants rise again..." (Douay-Rheims Version, Isaiah 26:14)
Although the Hebrew Rephaim referred to a race of giants (Deut. 3:11) in Job 26:5 (R.V., "they that are deceased;" marg., "the shades," the "Rephaim") and Isa. 14:9 this Hebrew word is rendered (A.V.) "dead." It means here "the shades," the departed spirits in Sheol. In Sam. 21:16, 18, 20, 33, "the giant" is (A.V.) the rendering of the singular form ha raphah, which may possibly be the name of the father of the four giants referred to here, or of the founder of the Rephaim. The Vulgate here reads "Arapha," whence Milton (in Samson Agonistes) has borrowed the name "Harapha." (See also 1 Chron. 20:5, 6, 8; Deut. 2:11, 20; 3:13; Josh. 15:8, etc., where the word is similarly rendered "giant.") It is rendered "dead" in (A.V.) Ps. 88:10; Prov. 2:18; 9:18; 21:16: in all these places the Revised Version marg. has "the shades." (See also Isa. 26:14.)
Following is a complete part of the relevant portions of the book of Enoch:
6.1 And it came to pass, when the sons of men had increased, that in those days there were born to them fair and beautiful daughters.
6.2 And the Angels, the sons of Heaven, saw them and desired them. And they said to one another: "Come, let us choose for ourselves wives, from the children of men, and let us beget, for ourselves, children."
6.3 And Semyaza, who was their leader, said to them:
"I fear that you may not wish this deed to be done and that I alone will pay for this great sin."
6.4 And they all answered him, and said:
"Let us all swear an oath, and bind one-another with curses, so not to alter this plan, but to carry out this plan effectively."
6.5 Then they all swore together and all bound one another with curses to it.
6.6 And they were, in all, two hundred and they came down on Ardis, which is the summit of Mount Hermon. And they called the mountain Hermon because on it they swore and bound one another with curses.
6.7 And these are the names of their leaders:
Semyaza, who was their leader, Urakiba, Ramiel, Kokabiel, Tamiel, Ramiel, Daniel, Ezeqiel, Baraqiel, Asael, Armaros, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsiel, Satael, Turiel, Yomiel, Araziel.
6.8 These are the leaders of the two hundred Angels and of all the others with them.
7.1 And they took wives for themselves and everyone chose for himself one each. And they began to go into them and were promiscuous with them. And they taught them charms and spells, and they showed them the cutting of roots and trees.
7.2 And they became pregnant and bore large giants. And their height was three thousand cubits.
7.3 These devoured all the toil of men; until men were unable to sustain them.
7.4 And the giants turned against them in order to devour men.
7.5 And they began to sin against birds, and against animals, and against reptiles, and against fish, and they devoured one another's flesh, and drank the blood from it.
7.6 Then the Earth complained about the lawless ones.
8.1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and daggers, and shields, and breastplates. And he showed them the things after these, and the art of making them; bracelets, and ornaments, and the art of making up the eyes, and of beautifying the eyelids, and the most precious stones, and all kinds of coloured dyes. And the world was changed.
8.2 And there was great impiety, and much fornication, and they went astray, and all their ways became corrupt.
8.3 Amezarak taught all those who cast spells and cut roots, Armaros the release of spells, and Baraqiel astrologers, and Kokabiel portents, and Tamiel taught astrology, and Asradel taught the path of the Moon.
8.4 And at the destruction of men they cried out; and their voices reached Heaven.
9.1 And then Michael, Gabriel, Suriel and Uriel, looked down from Heaven and saw the mass of blood that was being shed on the earth and all the iniquity that was being done on the earth.
9.2 And they said to one another: "Let the devastated Earth cry out with the sound of their cries, up to the Gate of Heaven.
9.7 And Semyaza has made known spells, he to whom you gave authority to rule over those who are with him.
9.8 And they went into the daughters of men together, lay with those women, became unclean, and revealed to them these sins.
9.9 And the women bore giants, and thereby the whole Earth has been filled with blood and iniquity.
From other mythologies there are several similar myths to the Watchers and the Nephilim/giants. The Archons, meaning lord or ruler, usually numbering seven were deceptive beings who came to earth, deceiving us by creating a false reality. The lilum, children of Lillith through intercourse with fallen Angels. From Sumeria the Anunnaki, the 50 great ones, those who came from heaven to earth, possibly related the Anakites. They supervised while the Igigi or Igigu did the work. From Egypt are the Ennead, the nine superior gods, and the Ogdoad eight lesser deities in four pairs. From the Norse the Aesir primary gods, the Vamir other gods, and the Jotnar giants. And from Greece are the Titans and Olympians, and the giants and other creatures created by them. There are also probably others I am missing from other cultures such as the Native Americans who told of giants. It is interesting that all of these superior gods came to earth to rule us and give wisdom, and either created directly or as a result giants and creatures came about.
